There are so many ceramic coat options out there. How do you know if you are choosing the right service that fits your needs? Keep reading, and we will break down what a ceramic coat is, the benefits, and what package is right for you.

Ceramic coats don't have to be complicated or overwhelming when you know what you are looking for. First, a ceramic coat is long lasting protection that can be applied to exterior paint, windows, and wheels. It can make maintenance a breeze and create a deep durable shine that will uphold against many of the elements in the environment like rain, wind, and UV damage.

A MYTH that has been circling is that ceramic coat can protect against hail or rock chips. The TRUTH is that anything that will chip off or damage the actual paint or metal structure of your vehicle will also damage the ceramic coat. Ceramic coat is a thin microscopic layer of glass protection that will help against certain elements but will not prevent major damage.

MYTH, if I get the coating applied I don't have to wash or dry my vehicle.

The TRUTH is that a coating does require maintenance washes to maintain the outer layer of the coating and ensure the coating is not breaking down. The aftercare is simple with coatings, but due to the wide fast spread, coatings have became somewhat of a fairytale with all the MIRCALE things we have heard they can do now.

Basic aftercare instructions: (Doty's does provide any customer with aftercare instructions the day they get the coating, with our cell phone numbers in case you have any questions at all).

Do not get vehicle wet for 48 hours or wash for at least 2 weeks after getting the coating applied to allow for cure time. This timeframe can range depending on the coating applied, so make sure to ask your detailing professional.

1. Rinse the vehicle of lightly, or wash at least once a month to prevent any containments on the outside of the paint. Use wash mitts to prevent scratching over time and soft microfiber towels to dry.

2. Do not use degreaser or harsh chemicals on the lower costing coatings, and only when needed for the more durable coatings. This can help "unclog" a longer coating if the wrong product was used, like a wax on top of a coating.

3. Do not use automatic car washes, this will still scratch the surface. Those brushes are hard, and can be caked with all kinds of debris.

4. Vehicles will have hydrophobic effects, but drying is still required to prevent water and dust settling on the paint and causing spots.

5. Depending on the coating purchased, maintenance washes at least every 6 months or annually with your detailer are recommended to provide a topper to your coating to keep the hydrophobic capabilities proficient.

Clean up is a breeze and will be faster and easier than without a coating.

With all the options out there, how do I know I am getting a good deal and choosing the right coating? At Doty's, we offer several ceramic coat packages, not to be confusing, but to guarantee you get paint protection in your budget. Lets dive into those options now:

1 year coating (Proje): Most affordable and bare minimum coating $300. Only covers exterior paint. This coating will help you understand the basic care that a coating needs, but is not as durable. Harsh chemicals like degreaser or certain soaps will break down the coating quickly.

3 year coating (Pearl Nano EZ): This is a more durable coating, that will deepen the vehicles paint. $600 Extreme hydrophobic capabilities, while providing more shine on the paint only. Topper maintenances suggested. This is recommended for a starter coating.

5 year coating (Pearl Nano XV2): Extreme durability with long lasting shine and protection. $900 This coating package will include spot buffing on small areas like door dings to ensure the best paint for the coating. Deep shine will cause the mirror like reflection on paint, windows, and wheels. Topper maintenances suggested.

9 year coating (GTECHNIQ Crystal Serum Ultra): Most durability and deepest shine. Extreme chemical resistance. $1750 This coating package will include a full paint correction on exterior paint to ensure car show quality. This coating will be applied to paint, windows, and wheels covering almost every inch of the vehicle. This coating will be a VIP treatment to any ride, leaving it shiny and protected for most of its life. Topper maintenances suggested.

Does a coating need paint correction? It is highly recommended to get a buff on the vehicles paint if needed. Coatings are not like waxes, in the aspect that they do not cover up swirls. A coating will drastically enhance the paints shine an depth. In order to get the quality coating jobs you see pictures for, buffing will be needed.

1 step paint correction starts at $250, Usually a light polish with DA

2 step paint correction starts at $500, Consists of a cut with a Rotary and polish with a DA

You can get a paint correction without a coating, but it is recommended to add some sort of protection to your vehicle after this process. If you go through the work of getting your paint clear and shiny, any protection will keep the paint from getting damaged again. We also offer a hand wax for $100 that will typically last 3 to 6 months depending on care.
